CMC Offers Rare Opportunity to Work in Television

Carroll County residents who have an urge to do something positive and make television that matters at the same time have the chance to do so.
For years the Community Media Center of Carroll County (CMC) has hosted workshop and certification courses geared toward getting area residents trained in producing quality television programming for channel 19.
The bi-monthly workshops begin with a free orientation, after which the CMC membership fee can be paid if there is interest in proceeding to the next step - the level one basic certification. "This certification trains you on the basic camera and editing system, after completion a member is allowed to check out CMC equipment and begin making programming right away," said CMC Volunteer/Intern Coordinator Kevin Walla.
The CMC also offers more advanced workshops and certification courses for those producers who wish to further their skills, and completing courses such as advanced camera, editing and studio will allow them to do so. "This is going to give your video that edge." added Walla "It's not going to be just you having your own voice; but people are going to want to watch if your video has that nice polished look."
Also offered are a number of non-certified courses for programs like Movie Maker. While the level one courses are a part of the basic membership fee the advanced courses are not. The fee for attending the advanced editing workshop is $100, every other advanced course is $50.
