Join other Carroll County residents who want to take part in the Carroll County Remembers and Carroll County: Through the Eyes of the Black Experience Oral History Projects. Participants will learn techniques for conducting one-on-one interviews and how to capture them on video. Interviews will be archived at the Community Media Center in Westminster and made available through its website and through the Carroll County Public Library. Portions of some interviews will be used for programs airing on Cable Channel 19.

Our next workshop is scheduled for October 18, 2008, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Community Media Center (CMC) at 1301 Washington Road in Westminster, Maryland. Workshops are free but pre-registration is required. Register here. Call 410-386-4415 or send an email to
carrollremembers@cmcmd.tv for more information.
The CMC's professional production staff will train you to interview participants using a format developed by award-winning producer Leo Eaton. The workshop also covers audio, video and lighting techniques for collecting the interviews and procedures for archiving the materials. Upon completing the workshop, you will be assigned a resident to interview or you may choose an individual. Camera equipment and production facilities are available through the CMC for certified interviewers.
Interviews collected for Carroll County Remembers and Carroll County: Through the Eyes of the Black Experience will become a part of the Carroll County History Project, a multi-year, multi-part overview of the county. It includes a video and audio archive of resident's memories and an in-depth television program created by MPT producer and resident Marilyn Maguire. The Carroll County History Project was developed by the Community Media Center and the Carroll County Public Library.
